4ft Compact Double Beds And Mattresses |
10 Sep |
Positioned between a double bed and a single bed, a 4ft bed is also known as a compact double and a small double bed. 4ft beds measure 120cm x 190cm or 4ft x 6ft 3in, and actually have more sleep space per person than a super king size bed, so they offer a touch of luxury to any smaller bedroom.
A 4ft bed is a useful size of bed that is ideal for a guest bedroom where space is limited or if only one person is sleeping in a small bedroom but wants slightly more sleep space. They are also good in older children’s and teenager’s bedrooms as they grow.
In our 4ft bed section you will find a wide range of different styles including divan beds, leathe beds, upholstered beds, metal bed frames and wooden bed frames. There is also the high sleeper from Hyder that has a compact double bed. Our prices start from just £79 for a 4ft bed frame and we also have a Best Price Promise to make sure you get the lowest price possible. You’ll also find 4ft beds within our Next Day Delivery section if you need your new bed quickly or simply can’t wait. We also have a great choice of 4ft bed mattresses to match your new bed frame, all from well known manufacturers and with various spring styles.

Uber Cool Alarm Clock

Do you struggle to get up on a morning? Not much of an early bird? Do you go through the same motions as me, jumping out of your skin as soon as the alarm goes off, opening one eye and thinking I’ll just have five more minutes, then groggily sit up and perch on the end of your bed usually whilst rubbing your eyes and wishing it was the weekend. If you have this problem I seriously advise you listen carefully to what I am about to tell you.
A company called AXbo has created an uber cool alarm clock that wakes you up gently instead of startling you, it uses cycles to determine whether you’re in a light or deep sleep. Every night, people go through sleep cycles, which usually last between an hour and a half to two hours. So the average person goes through 3 – 5 cycles per night.
WARNING: Waking up during a deep section of the cycle can leave you feeling tired, grumpy and snappy! (Usually how I feel on a morning)
On a lighter note, if you wake in a light section of the cycle, you’ll be left fresh, rested and raring to go.

The monitoring of your sleep is done by a couple of different-sized sweatbands that measures your movement. If you’re stirring and wriggling then it assumes you’re sleeping lightly and wakes you up. If you don’t move an inch in the half-hour before your target-wakeup time, then a more violent beeping alarm will alert you.
The AXbo alarm clock aims to do precisely that, by letting you set a target time and then waking you up with a gentle sound that slowly rises in volume at an appropriate “light” point in the half hour before that.
The alarm clock unit itself has a rechargeable battery and certainly isn’t on the unattractive side, coming with a transparent backlit LCD display, which will look lush in any contemporary bedroom. Setting the system up and using it is pretty intuitive. All you have to do is remember to put your wristband on and deactivate the alarm on weekends, and you’re all set.
Slightly pricey at £180.00 but well worth the money. Get it ordered!

Bed Instructions

We’ve recently been contacted by a guy who, exasperated by receiving a bed without the construction instructions, has taken the time to contact all of the major bed manufacturers to collect and publish the official construction instructions on a blog Bed Instructions.co.uk
Its early days for Mark (the owner) but the site has promise and I’m sure that many of the online bed shops will come to use the resource as it provides instant access to these valueable documents which usually are difficult to find on their own.
Good Luck Mark, the site looks great!

I couldnt believe my eyes when I came across this disposable cardboard bed…What a cool invention!
This portable bed Is finished with five layers of corrugated carton, processed with waterproof substance, which makes It durable in all seasons. The height of the bed Is about 20 centimeters that keep the users on a good height from the wet and cold surface of the earth.
This piece of furniture (If you can call It that) would be of great use for all those going to the Glastonbury festival, any other open air concert, or even for the beach (meaning you wouldnt have to get up at the crack of dawn to reserve a sun lounger).
I’ve totally fallen In love with the idea of been able to transport a bed around with me. It would be great for my afternoon nap, just aslong as I find somewhere convenient to fold it out. THIS BED ROCKS!
Not only Is It easy to transport but It’s also recyclable! Great for the environment aswell as not costing the earth! Eco friendly and contemporary for a low price….bargain!
The only downside I found with a bed like this Is, If In a playful mood I wouldn’t advise bouncing on it.
