Wrought iron and other similar bed frames are making a come back from the eponymous Victorian one which were originally hand made long before today’s modern metalworking machinery was available. It may be possible still to find an antique bed frame that was discarded some years ago and preserved and cared for throughout the years.
However finding such an item may prove more difficult than you could imagine and the modern equivalent in a variety of styles from specialist suppliers such as timeless beds can prove to be better, from both a time point of view, as well as both monetary and maybe quality of the bed.
There are two basic types of metal bed, the wrought iron and the cast iron.
Cast iron beds are more popular today than wrought iron beds, they are far more efficient to make and this is reflected in their cost to you.
Wrought iron beds are virtually hand made using the techniques of the traditional blacksmith, these are top of the range but the price can reflect this item from a skilled craftsman.
