Do you toss and turn at night? Frantically wishing you’d eventually just drop off to sleep? I suffer from this problem. It’s extremely frustrating especially as you watch time go by, counting down the hours till you have to get up for work. Many people do not get the correct amount of sleep, as a result of this many of us find it hard to concentrate whilst going about our daily activities. I personally know my concentration level tends to be low when iv had lack of sleep and I don’t tend to function properly (unless fuelled with energy drinks)

Here are a few things that may help you get a peaceful night’s sleep:

v People tend to sleep better in a room that is cooler rather than warmer so make sure your room is nicely aired.

v Switch off all lights, as the brain prepares the body to sleep in the dark.

v Change the sheets often as cleanliness helps promote a pleasant environment

v Have a drink that will help you to sleep well such as milk, hot chocolate or even a good old cup of tea; I don’t advise coffee as caffeine will only stimulate your mind, making it harder to fall asleep.

v Studies show that exercise 4-6 hours before can actually help you drift off.

v Avoid afternoon naps as they interfere with your sleeping pattern on a night time….so when you “just rest your eyes” (a familiar favourite from a family member of mine) what your really doing in actual fact is making yourself more alert, meaning you find it harder to sleep when it comes to night time.
